Tutorial 2 of 7
Add screenshots, links and notes
Beginner 6 min
Make every reference useful later: good screenshots, clean source links, sections, platforms, notes, accent colors, ordering and duplicates.
A reference is only useful if you still know months later what you liked about it. This tutorial goes through the reference editor field by field.
1. Screenshots you are allowed to keep
Pageboard never takes screenshots for you and never loads the source page. Use your own screenshots – from the browser's screenshot tool, your operating system or a design tool – and only images you may keep and, if you export them, share.
Three ways to add one in the reference editor:
- Screenshot field: choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP file (up to 12 MB).
- Paste: copy an image and press
Ctrl+Vwhile the editor is open. - Drop: drag an image onto the editor – or onto the board itself, which opens a new reference with that image.
Pageboard converts the image to a compressed JPEG of at most 300 KB (wide images up to 1,280 pixels, tall full-page screenshots up to 2,400 pixels high). Cards show the top of the image, which is usually the most telling part of a website. Remove screenshot takes it away again.
No screenshot at hand? The card shows the first letter of the title on the Accent color you choose.
2. Links, sections and platforms
Source link must start with http:// or https://. The card shows only the host name (for example example.com ↗); the link opens in a new tab only when you click it.
Section describes the part of a page (Hero, Pricing, Footer, Checkout …) and Platform the device (Desktop, Mobile, Tablet). Both fields suggest the values you used before, which keeps the filters tidy.
3. Notes that age well
Write what you want to borrow, not what the page is: "Price table keeps the yearly toggle next to the plans" is more useful than "Nice pricing page". Notes are searchable.
4. Reorder, duplicate, remove
Open a card with Edit. At the bottom of the editor:
- Move earlier / Move later change the order of the cards on the board.
- Duplicate creates a copy right after it (useful for a desktop and a mobile version of the same page).
- Remove deletes the reference. Undo brings it back, including its moodboard cards.
Save changes keeps your edits; Cancel or Esc closes without saving.
5. Limits
A board holds up to 100 references with eight tags each and up to 4 MB in total. Screenshots use most of that space; the board name line always shows how many references the board has.
